Social Media and Marketing Coordinator

Responsible for leading Report for America’s social media strategy and growth, creating our newsletters and sharing stories about the great journalism our corps members are producing.

Responsibilities: 

  • Create and execute RFA’s social media strategy, with an eye toward greatly increasing our Twitter, Instagram and Facebook followers and monthly website page views.
  • Thoroughly read and intimately know the stories being produced by our corps members. Have a good eye for impactful hard news and investigations, bright features and other stories. You’ll use this information to:
      • Promote the best on social media and in newsletters.
      • Create and maintain an “impact” database of stories that have resulted in some action or that have otherwise affected local communities in important ways. We will use these stories in multiple ways to underscore the value of RFA.
  • Produce lively social media campaigns. This includes but is not limited to posting at least five tweets, 1 Instagram post and 1 Facebook post per day based on corps members’ work and other relevant RFA announcements. (Many days, you’ll produce more.)
  • Meet goals for web and social media growth, and create a monthly summary of social media metrics that you’ll produce with GroundTruth staff.
  • Maintain and regularly update another RFA database that is based on quarterly evaluation data from newsrooms on number of stories produced by corps members, etc.   
  • Reach out to other journalism organizations to promote our work, application cycles, etc.
  • Produce two digital newsletters per month, highlighting corps members’ great work, prominent mentions in other media, etc.
  • Deliver to the development team a weekly roundup of corp members’ best work that they’ll incorporate into material for fundraising and other uses. 
  • Coordinate with overall GroundTruth social media strategy.

Experience:

  • Some experience with managing social media
  • Some experience building newsletters and audience
