Editorial Intern

IPI is currently inviting applications for the position of Editorial Intern to assist the Editor in producing and disseminating IPI books, policy papers, issue briefs, and related materials at IPI’s headquarters in New York City.

The intern will gain knowledge and skills from on-the-job experience, with the Editor providing guidance and feedback to facilitate the learning process.


  • Copyediting, formatting citations, fact checking, and proofreading publications, and copyediting other IPI communications as required
  • Maintaining the house style guide
  • Managing the in-house printing of reports
  • Conducting photo research for publications
  • Assisting with the dissemination of publications on social media
  • Managing books purchases and subscriptions to journals, magazines, and newspapers
  • Conducting publications-related administrative tasks, including expense requests
  • Performing other ad hoc tasks as determined by the Editor


  • Outstanding editing ability, with acute attention to detail, a passion for grammar, and opinions about punctuation
  • Outstanding writing ability, with an understanding of how to convey ideas concisely and clearly
  • Good eye for design and formatting
  • BA, particularly in international affairs or a related field
  • Knowledge of Chicago style desirable
  • Experience copyediting, proofreading, or working as a writing tutor preferred
  • Familiarity with or interest in multilateral institutions a plus
  • Knowledge of written French a plus

The editorial internship is a full-time position, paid according to an hourly wage. Interns also receive a subsidized MetroCard. This internship will be for a three-month period with the possibility of extension to a maximum of six months.

Applicants must be eligible for employment in the United States. Please note that IPI cannot sponsor work visas for internships.
