This person would take a central role in the day-to-day project management of all the functions and roles required for a successful January 2020 new launch of a printed, weekly magazine.  As a proven self-starter, this person is expected to have the capacity to hit the ground running and define to current leadership how the process will and should work.  This person should possess the ability to lead and direct the work of others.

This is a contract position with a projected six-month assignment.  

Responsibilities

  • Develop, communicate and implement comprehensive magazine launch plans on a day-to-day basis
  • Lead a cross-functional project team, coordinating between internal resources and third-party vendors as needed
  • Work in partnership with other launch leads
  • Manage commercial endeavors including subs teams’ marketing & launch plans
  • Oversee project budgets and coordinate budget approval process
  • Identify gaps, risks, and other issues
  • Assist with project managing the editorial process
  • Manage all coordination between the US/UK launch teams
  • Ensure the PR firm is executing their tasks by deadline
  • Guarantee that the microsite for the website is on task 
  • Manage changes to the project scope, project schedule and project costs
  • Track project performance, specifically to analyze the successful completion of short and long-term goals

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Bachelor’s Degree required
  • Minimum of six (6) years’ experience in a project management role
  • Proven track record in project management & new magazine product launches
  • Successful at delivering results & hitting tight deadlines
  • Experience with brand management
  • Expert at leading and executing projects with multiple work-streams and sub-teams
  • Strong organizational skills including attention to detail and multitasking skills
  • Strong communication and presentation skills (both written and verbal)
  • Ability to motivate teams to execute complex tasks
  • Independent operator who can easily fit in a collaborative, fast-paced environment
  • Proven ability to influence leadership
  • Ability to navigate unstructured problems and use creative problem-solving to overcome challenges
  • Strong writing proficiency
  • Experience with issue management, work planning, and progress tracking
  • Experience in the publications industry, both print & digital
  • Proficiency in MS Project or other project management software, MS Office, Google Docs & G Suite
