The Senior Product Marketing Manager will join a highly creative and effective team. The Senior Product Marketing Manager for Fountas & Pinnell Literacy™ (FPL) is responsible for conceptualizing, managing and implementing identified aspects of the overarching brand market strategy with an emphasis on marketing content creation/curation.  The ideal candidate will have extensive marketing experience, knowledge of the literacy education market and an understanding of literacy instruction particularly around the pedagogy and resources by Fountas and Pinnell.

In collaboration with the Director of Fountas & Pinnell Marketing and the Fountas & Pinnell Marketing team, the Senior Product Marketing Manager will be responsible for contributing to identified aspects of the brand strategy and marketing campaigns with an emphasis on:

Conceptualization and Implementation of strategic marketing activities and promotional campaigns, including existing and new resources in the product development pipeline

Supporting the F&P Marketing Director in the creation of new marketing tools, promotions, and events

Participation in the development of the F&P brand marketing strategy

Partnering with Director to identify and modify brand positioning strategies and sales support, as well as launch new marketing initiatives as appropriate.

Contributing to the research and reporting of information on market trends, competitive issues/products, customer issues and sales needs as identified.

Partner with identified team of peers to strategically launch/manage research activities for the brand

Participate in marketing/sales meetings to ensure growth in product knowledge and strategic initiatives

Helping to gather, track and summarize analytic data on marketing campaigns, webinars, market opportunities/gaps, and overall sales reports to support and inform overarching marketing strategy and product line profitability.  

Primary Responsibilities:

Collaborate on multi-channel marketing initiatives, research initiatives, innovative marketing campaigns, strategic planning, positioning and messaging with the Director of F&P Marketing to drive demand.

Connects the FPL brand with customers and drives business results by blending strategy, creative content, technology, research and analysis.

Partners with Director of F&P Marketing and VP Marketing to identify. monitor and modify overarching brand strategy as appropriate.  

Analyze market trends, competitive landscape and analyze marketing/sales data to inform marketing decisions and brand/business strategy.

Works to connect marketing strategies across the FPL brand, implementing cohesive and consistent messaging that enhances the comprehensive portfolio and Heinemann as a whole.  

Represents products as a Subject Matter Expert when collaborating with or training cross-functional teams.

Maintains strong, ongoing channels of communication with marketing team, authors, sales, editorial/production and design teams to ensure success.  

Uses data to gauge effectiveness of marketing plans and promotional campaigns.

Continues to develop solid understandings of Fountas and Pinnell’s work as well as how districts adopt Heinemann and FPL products, including customer purchasing behavior and purchasing/implementation criteria.

Provides or collaborates with team to provide accurate and quick support for sales teams to drive revenue.  

Travel to and assist with the management of brand presence at national exhibits and conferences including events, giveaways, marketing collateral, author signings, booth display, booth staffing, etc.  

Education and Experience:

Bachelors degree in Education, Marketing, English, Communications, or related field

5+ years’ experience as an educator or in educational publishing, within marketing/sales, editorial, or product management roles, with proven experience in creating and executing innovative marketing campaigns through multiple channels that drive demand  

Knowledge and Skills:

Knowledge of Fountas and Pinnell materials and the K-12 literacy market

Self-starter: takes ownership, meets deadlines

Exhibits an understanding of the challenges faced by the customer (educators and students), and can translate this understanding into customer-centric marketing strategies and deliverables

Independent thinker, creative, a problem solver who is flexible, solutions-oriented

Excellent oral and written communication skills including strong attention to detail

Excellent project management skills

Proficient in Word, Excel and PowerPoint/Keynote In-depth knowledge of relevant digital marketing tools and social media channels.
