Overview

 

DoSomething.org is looking for a Head of Campaigns to lead a diverse team in creating and project managing bold, social change campaigns. We’re looking for an experienced manager who thinks big, isn’t afraid to take risks in the pursuit of real, authentic impact, and pushes their team to maintain a high standard of excellence.

 

This position embodies the very definition of impact for our organization, our sponsors and partners, and our members. Tasked with operationalizing multiple cross-functional initiatives that tangibly move the needle on causes as diverse as safe driving, gun violence prevention, and voter registration, our dream Head of Campaigns is willing and ready from day one to prioritize positive lifelong behavior change in a new generation of young people.  

 

Responsibilities:

 

Campaigns Team Management (60%)

 

  • Manage a full-time team of project managers and strategists, community experts and civic action leads to efficiently run the full lifecycle of our programs: from creation to development to execution. 

     

    Campaign Strategy: Support cross-functional teams to create new, creative campaigns that will make a splash in the marketplace, and more importantly, change in the world.

     

    Campaign Management: Part of your team will be responsible for the management of all DoSomething sponsored campaign initiatives, working simultaneously to create real impact. You will work closely with the marketing team to develop client-specific assets and you’ll work closely with sponsors to hit campaign deliverables out of the park and you will also closely with campaign leads to ensure that we are delivering excellence in our work and that sponsors renew their sponsorships year after year. 

     

    Community & Impact: Oversee the community team to ensure that our VIP members are getting meaningful one-on-one coaching, our Clubs program is flourishing, and we’re stretching ourselves to create more impact in every campaign we do.

     

    Civic Engagement: Manage and provide oversight to the civic engagement team that leads organization-wide cross-functional initiatives to increase voter participation and advocacy among young people.

     

    Provide coaching/mentoring to team members, fostering collaboration and encouraging continuous learning. 

     

Cross-Team Liaison and Management (20%)

  • Work closely and cross-functionally with the heads of business development, marketing, and product, to ensure work is projected accurately and effectively, with a keen attention to risk mitigation and balancing competing priorities. 

     

    Represent the campaigns team in senior management meetings. Be the advocate for our members and our impact at every level of decision making.

     

    Implement data-driven processes to maximize efficiencies between departments and oversee the entire campaign calendar, coordinating with multiple departments to ensure each campaign gets the level of support it needs to make its goals. 

     

Leadership & Expertise (20%)

Lead organization-wide initiatives and cross-functional team strategy to impact top-line KPIs. Own the strategy and process behind our impact metric goal-setting, tracking, and reporting day-over-day, quarter-over-quarter.

  • Advocate across the organization to ensure every step of every program we develop is up to the highest standard in regards to impact, member engagement, and brand affinity. 
  • As a thought leader, identify trends and insights in social change and young people prior to it becoming a well-known fact.
    •  Actively gather this information from a well-established network to lead the creation of phenomenal campaigns.

       

    Contribute consistently to coalitions, summits, publications as a thought leader on best practices surrounding young people, impact, and civic engagement. 

     


Qualifications:

  • A big social change win. You have previously led a group of people to make a measurable success on a social change campaign. This could be as an activist or professional or on the side.

     

  • Management experience. You know how to manage a team. You can easily state your management philosophy. You have hired, fired, and moved people.

     

  • Outstanding project management experience. Quick thinker who knows how to put out fires (short-term triage), and can lead multiple projects simultaneously, from planning through completion.

     

  • Strategic partnership experience. You have overseen and grown partnerships with major companies and organizations. 

     

  • Troubleshooting Pro. We're looking for someone who can stay cool under pressure while also springing quickly into action to get everyone back on track. 

     

  • Data-Driven. You understand that with new data coming in every day (every minute?), you may have to analyze the situation and pivot your entire strategy from the beginning of the meeting to the end.

     

  • Experience developing creative ideas. You have previously managed ideas from research to execution. You dream wonderful things in your sleep...and awake.

     

  • Youth expertise. You don’t have to Google Lil Miquela to know who she is.

     

  • A major cause-y news addiction. You know who breaks news on Twitter in different cause spaces because you live & breathe this stuff.

     

  • Strong presentation, verbal and written skills, as well as proven ability to develop well-positioned and thoughtful documents and presentations.

     

  • A genuine eagerness to mentor, encourage, and learn from a diverse and talented team.

     

  • A hands-on leader who’s not afraid to get their hands dirty.

     

  • Enthusiasm for a fast-paced, constantly changing work environment.
