Foot-in-the-door opportunity for a full-time contractor at a major television network. Looking for a technologically savvy, detail-oriented grammar nerd with at least 5 years professional experience copyediting and proofreading. Position entails copyediting and proofreading all copy and metadata for an extremely busy digital marketing metadata and QA team, maintaining brand and style guidelines, and ensuring all published copy adheres to established standards and is free of spelling, grammar and punctuation errors.

Essential Responsibilities

  • Proofread and copyedit a high volume of promotional and metadata copy for use online and in digital applications
  • Ensure that all copy adheres to house and/or partner style standards and reflects established brand guidelines
  • Perform light fact checking to ensure accuracy of information presented
  • Collaborate on creation and maintenance of copy templates and style guide as new sites, features and functions are implemented

Basic Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree from an accredited four-year college or university
  • At least five years professional experience as a copyeditor or proofreader
  • Must be available to work onsite in our Studio City-area offices full-time Monday-Friday, with ability to stay late some nights and work some weekends
  • Must successfully complete proofreading and editing test

Desired Characteristics

  • Excellent knowledge of AP Style and American English spelling, grammar, punctuation and usage
  • Entertainment industry/television experience a MAJOR plus
  • Experience managing requests from multiple stakeholders and leading copyeditors a MAJOR plus
  • Extremely detail-oriented with sharp eyes for errors
  • Comfortable proofreading for social media and marketing, including print, online and video
  • Keen awareness of pop culture (TV and web) and media consumption trends
  • Ability to edit calmly and efficiently under daily deadline pressure
  • Experience publishing with CMS, working with digital project management systems
  • Friendly, funny, outside-the-box thinking; creative problem-solving
  • Effective communication & collaboration skills
