SVP, Media Partnerships

The relationship between media companies and Silicon Valley has never been more critical. The role of SVP Media Partnerships is to build valuable relationships with companies including Google, Facebook, Samsung, Amazon and Apple, based on a deep understanding of how technology is changing media. This will involve looking at how tech partners can help expand Dow Jones’s audiences and revenues, while also exploring how we can work together to create groundbreaking products. Dow Jones is a diversified media business, and the SVP Media Partnerships will be expected to work collaboratively with leaders of The Wall Street Journal, DJMG, PIB and the Innovation unit - as well as other News Corp business units.
Primary responsibility is to establish high-level relationships in Silicon Valley that help Dow Jones navigate the risks and opportunities of working with major tech companies.
Develops one-page strategy reports for each Silicon Valley partner, working closely with COO Innovation & Partnerships, highlighting revenue goals, actions needed to drive towards success, metrics of success.
Acts as primary day-to-day business contact for partners – keeping them informed of changes at Dow Jones, and feeding back to Dow Jones vital innovations and intelligence.
Contributes to company growth strategies with a particular focus on supporting our membership strategy and product innovation for key brands, including WSJ and DJ.
Negotiates agreements with Silicon Valley companies and key DJ stakeholders across product, editorial, legal, technology, innovation, legal, finance, subscription and advertising teams, working in a matrix structure, where collaboration is critical..
Identifies new distribution channels for our content and ensures there are rigorous and consistent financial models to support them.
Managers a small and agile team of Partnership professionals
The right candidate will have a combination of the following skills:
At least five years of working at a content company - media, music, TV or film.
A keen interest in the latest consumer technologies and their impact on media.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, able to work at all levels of media and tech organizations.
Excellent negotiation skills.
Strong analytical skills, particularly with data.
The ability to work collaboratively across departments including customer group, editorial, marketing, advertising, technology, innovation.
Influencer with a proven ability to get things done, and drive projects to conclusion.
