Science World, Scholastic Inc.'s classroom magazine for science students in grades 6 to 10, has an immediate opening for an associate editor. The associate editor will be a vital member of the science team, working to inspire a love of science in kids and teens while growing the magazine's circulation.



The associate editor will be involved in all aspects of the magazine (print and online), working to generate story ideas, write content, and build strong connections with teachers. More specifically, the associate editor will write feature articles and oversee 7 pages of short science news articles. The latter involves developing a lineup for the news section, assigning news shorts to freelancers, editing copy, and working with the art and production teams to create an engaging front of the book that draws readers into the magazine.

In addition, the associate editor will work on Science World's social media, newsletters, and blog posts. He or she will also assist in the creation of teaching resources such as skills sheets, videos, and online games.



• B.S. or M.S. degree in a science discipline
• Excellent writing and editing skills, with a laser-focused attention to detail
• At least 3 years of educational publishing or editorial experience required
• Knowledge of secondary education and national and state standards a plus

• High-level reporting and research skills
