This role reports to the Senior Vice President, NBCU Corporate Events.Research, develop, manage and execute smaller special events for all NBCU day parts. Responsible for all aspects of event from start to finish, including budget management.Coordinating all program elements leading up to and onsite including accommodations, entertainment venues, activities, transportation, F&B, etc. Responsible and accountable for event budgets and reconciliation.Interact directly with marketing and sales to gain working knowledge of their needs and their clients’ needs in order to create event based programs.Provide support to senior members of the team on day to day projects as well as larger events.
Manage guest invitation/communication process and travel procurement for each assigned event.Generate and research new event ideas and opportunities for the sales staff and advertising clients.Develop contacts and relationships with hotels etc. to secure best possible rates and opportunities for NBCU.Maintain working knowledge of happenings in the industry as well as up-to-date information on new hotels, restaurants and event venues, etc.Work with the in-house creative team as well as freelancers on creation and preparation of event collateral material.Work closely with Senior Director of Merchandise to develop ideas for creative and unique premium ideas for each event as well as on-going NBCU merchandise.Qualifications
- Minimum of five years of direct experience in event planning, preferably with some sports-related experience.
- Must be able/willing to travel at least 40% of the year
- Must be proficient in EXCEL and PowerPoint
- Confident, mature, creative and organized team player with the ability to prioritize and handle multiple projects simultaneously
- Must be willing to work long hours and weekends.
- Must have excellent communication skills
