Role Summary

The New Growth & Development organization is focused on identifying and analyzing areas of future growth and plans to achieve sustained and balance growth across the enterprise. The organization works to answer "what's next" for Cox and our customers. We developed growth hypothesis and test those hypothesis through: 1) skunkworks 2) investing in new businesses 3) traditional R&D 4) identifying strategic partnerships and 5) exploring emerging businesses. Growth opportunities are currently being incubated across a variety of adjacent business and technology sectors including Healthcare, Commercial IOT, Energy, Edge Computing, etc.

The Growth Manager is responsible for all aspects of the program over the entire program life-cycle. They will have experience in executing large, complex enterprise projects and programs. The Growth Manager is well versed in program management methodology, has rich background of program and projects successes, is energetic, personable and thrives in a dynamic environment. The Growth Manager possesses the ability to find creative solutions to issues that jeopardize program goals/business objectives or timing, within budget or resource constraints.

The Growth Manager can envision the ‘big picture’ and interfaces with executive, business, functional and New Growth & Development leadership to materialize the overall focus of the program in line with the business strategy. They leverage their expertise to drive decision making on all aspects of the program/project activities and mitigates erroneous decisions. The Growth Manager can manage program/project(s) in a cross-functional, matrix management environment where high-risk, cost, impact or change is paramount to the organization. The role relies upon experience in relationship management, master plan management, communications, change management, delivery execution and benefits realization.



What does this Job Sub-Family do?

CSTDEV: Responsible for corporate level strategy, development, and implementation, which includes the strategic planning, portfolio management, and project management.

Primary Responsibilities and Essential Functions

• Leads the development and implementation of cross-functional portfolio, program and project management processes and procedures for the portfolio, functioning as a trusted advisor and center of excellence for the team
• Understand and manage delivery status, interdependencies, risks, and resource requirements for the portfolio to optimize delivery and maintain financial alignment
• Coach and mentor to a team of product/project managers to ensure effective and efficient portfolio and project management practices throughout the portfolio
• Works closely with a cross-functional team including finance, legal, supply chain, marketing, technology and others ensure efficient and effective delivery of the portfolio
• Continuously improve project portfolio management processes and procedures to solidify the organizations ability to consistently execute the portfolio with speed and agility
• Influential member of the senior leadership team with direct responsibility for portfolio reporting and review sessions
• Ensures portfolio risks are identified early, mitigated effectively or escalated appropriately to improve program and portfolio performance
• Responsible for budget and financial management practices for the organization to ensure continuous alignment with portfolio objectives
• Effective change leader and business partner, responsible for optimizing the integration of agility focused departmental processes with enterprise systems and procedures
• Represent Cox as external business leader, advocate and negotiator on specific issues in industry, inter-industry and ad hoc working groups and alliances, trade association, public policies and standards committees to promote and implement Cox's positions
• Drives evaluation, consensus-building, decision-making and implementation of Cox's strategies on specific industry issues, policies, emerging technologies, platform and convergence decisions, intellectual property rights and special projects

QUALIFICATIONS

Minimum

• 7 or more years of portfolio, program and project management experience in a management consulting or strategy environment
• Experience leading a PMO function in a large company with direct experience managing portfolio and functional budgets
• Strong skills in the Microsoft Office Suite particularly Word, PowerPoint, and Excel; as well as Project Management tools and software
• Strong research and analytical capabilities
• Skilled at business planning and forecasting
• Strong customer focus and ethics, and is an avid inquisitive learner
• Communicates effectively with Executives, internal and external partners, vendors and entities
• An excellent collaborator who works effectively with teams throughout the organization as well as with external industry partners, vendors, and business entities

Preferred

• 5 or more years of experience in a program management role, strategy role, innovation role or management consultant
• BS/BA degree in related discipline desired (e.g. Business Administration or Legal.)
• MA/MBA in related discipline strongly desired
• Prior consulting experience
• Knowledge of procurement processes and experience using automated procurement tools such as Oracle iProcuement / ZeroChaos or similar tool
