Job Purpose:
The Director, Media partners with the Senior Director, Media on all off-air advertising media projects related to NBC Entertainment. The Director will work on developing and stewarding media strategy and plans. The Director, Media will also assist in directing and motivating all agency partners.

Essential Responsibilities:
  • Support the Sr. Director, Media in the development of sound, insightful and unique media strategies and plans for all off-air supported shows.
  • Assist in the development of analysis necessary to rationalize and explain key media recommendations and decisions
  • Oversee the delivery of all materials between on-air/print production, external agency buyers/traffic departments and media vendors
  • Develop presentations for senior management and partner departments
  • Assist in managing all financial reporting summaries & documents associated with all corporate media budgets
  • Manage the day-to-day billing and invoice reconciliation process
  • Lead the day-to-day activities of all agency partners
  • Manage the fulfillment of information requests across all agency partners
  • Evaluate programs and tactics across all departments and provide a media “value”
  • Work with cross-functional team to optimize viewership flows for new and returning series
  • Council media vendors and media companies on potential advertising opportunities
  • Meet with representatives of the media to foster mutually beneficial relationships with all media partners, particularly those within the NBCU family
  • Seek and develop innovative testing ideas and strategies that leverage identified opportunities as well as changes in technology and consumer behaviors
  • Assist the Senior Director, Media with any ad-hoc projects/requests


  • Basic Qualifications:
    •Bachelor’s Degree in Liberal Arts, Marketing, Communications/Advertising, or Media Studies preferred
    •8+ year’s experience in media planning
    •Media agency experience required
    •Digital experience required

    Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

    Desired Characteristics:
    •Advanced knowledge of media fundamentals across all channels and an ability to educate across all levels
    •Strong knowledge and understanding of the television industry, particularly the Broadcast TV business
    •Communications proficiency including written, verbal, listening and presentation skills
    •Supervisory and management skills including the ability to train and develop staff at various levels
    •Computer proficiency particularly with Word, Excel and PowerPoint
    •Team spirit, self-motivation, proactive nature and collaborative attitude
