Nature Research is a flagship portfolio of journals, products and services including Nature and the Nature-branded journals, dedicated to serving the scientific community.
Nature Methods seeks an Associate or Senior Editor to join the editorial team. We are particularly seeking candidates with expertise in genetics, genomics, cell biological techniques or stem cells, but will consider excellent candidates from other fields.
This is a unique opportunity to participate in the exciting and influential role of an editor in a high-profile journal. Nature Methods is a leading journal worldwide in publishing methods for biological research.
In this role, the successful applicant will evaluate manuscripts, oversee the peer review process, write short pieces for the journal, and commission and edit secondary materials such as News and Views, Reviews and Perspectives. An important component of the job will be interacting with the scientific community through conferences and laboratory visits.
The ideal candidate will have experience using a range of biological laboratory techniques and demonstrate an interest in methodology development. A broader interest in and understanding of biology is also important. Excellent communication skills and a willingness and ability to learn new fields are a must. Applicants should have completed a PhD in the biological sciences or in a closely related area. Post-doctoral experience in biology is desirable. Editorial experience is beneficial but not required.
This position is available in all of Nature’s main offices, including New York, Shanghai, London, and Berlin.
To apply, an interested candidate should complete the online application and submit:
- A cover letter explaining your interest in the position
- A curriculum vitae
- A ~600-word Research Highlight in the style of Nature Methods (see https://www.nature.com/nmeth/). This should highlight a paper published in a different journal within the past ~3 months on a topic that you think would be of interest to Nature Methods.
