We are seeking an experienced and motivated Director of Partnerships and Event Sales for MAKERS. In this role, you will play a critical role in developing and executing MAKERS sales & partnership strategy. This is an opportunity to be part of a growing media brand with an important mission. The Director of Partnerships and Event Sales will be responsible for generating revenue by selling conference sponsorship packages for MAKERS Live Events, Custom Events, Experiential Events, etc.. Along with driving sales goals, you will be responsible for managing communications and engagement among all MAKERS@ board members


  • Meet & exceed annual sales & sponsorship budget by selling new partnership deals
  • Develop and implement year-long sales strategy with the expectation to create multiyear, or multi-event agreements, by targeting partners for conference and custom events
  • Develop and maintain key client relationships and develop a sponsor retention strategy
  • Sell sponsorship packages to C-Level executives, as well as marketing managers
  • Develop and deliver sales presentations - in person and over the phone
  • Lead client brainstorms to develop custom event activations
  • Collaborate on the development and strategy around the MAKERS@ Board and year-long events strategy
  • Responsible for managing the execution of all sponsorship activations
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, ensuring communication and information flow timely and effectively, and the execution of sales strategy on all projects remains consistent
  • Develop new and compelling conference sponsorship packages, and go to market materials
  • Support on-site execution of sponsorships at conferences
  • Craft internal and external documents, manage internal next steps, billing, client-facing decks, and LOIs/contracts
  • Provide regular updates to the MAKERS executive team around revenue pacing, retention strategy, sponsorship industry landscape, market trends, key categories, etc
  • Accurately track sales activity and  invoice details through CRM platform
  • Reporting: Prepare and provide sponsorship wrap reports, research strategy, and fulfillment reports post-event


Minimum Qualifications:

  • Minimum 6+ years of sponsorship sales experience for events, lifestyle properties, or similar position with a focus on brand sponsorships and activations
  • Proven understanding of the full sponsorship sales lifecycle, and proven track record of sponsorship/media sales with a strong focus on developing integrated corporate partnerships
  • Must possess a significant number of established senior relationships with clients, as well as sponsorship and activation agencies (i.e. C-suite, marketing execs, decision-makers)
  • Solution-oriented, highly motivated and proactive self-starter who works well as both team member and individual contributor
  • Outstanding organizational skills, ability to follow through, and capable of meeting deadlines while balancing multiple projects and priorities
  • Professional presence, astute business sense, and a demonstrated ability to generate sales leads and closing business
