Position Summary

Reporting to the Senior Director for Strategic Communications, the Producer will be responsible for the planning and successful execution of content production and special projects across multiple channels.

This role is a vital position within the Marketing and Communications unit of the Office of Alumni and Development, the principal team responsible for promoting the University’s highest priorities to alumni and donors, from this year’s graduates to Trustees. Projects produced by this unit reach faculty, staff, and students in the campus community and well beyond, advancing the mission of the University, with particular emphasis on The Columbia Commitment, the current University-wide campaign for fundraising and alumni engagement.

Responsibilities

  • Manage process, timeline, and workflow to ensure content production for print and digital channels and special projects
  • Oversee the project intake process and act as chief departmental liaison with alumni and development colleagues across the organization
  • Prepare scopes of work for agreements with external vendors
  • Build and manage mailing lists for e-newsletters and emails
  • Collaborate with digital marketing initiatives team to determine, analyze, and make recommendations based on key metrics for website, emails, and newsletters
  • Serve as chief departmental liaison with web vendor and other partners, working to develop and update the giving site as needed in keeping with digital developments and departmental goals
  • Contribute to creative production efforts as needed, e.g. developing workplans for new initiatives
  • Create presentations outlining project strategies, execution, and key measures of success
  • Seed innovation in processes and outcomes for the department
  • Other duties as assigned

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree and/or its equivalent required
  • Minimum three to five years of related experience
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite required, specifically Excel

Other Requirements

  • Demonstrated ability to work independently when needed and with a variety of teams and stakeholders on other occasions
  • Proven leadership skills – able to meet, and steer others to meet, demanding deadlines
  • Demonstrated excellence in writing clearly and succinctly
  • Outstanding organizational skills
  • Familiarity with CMS and CRM systems including Drupal and Salesforce
  • Proactive in client management - demonstrated problem-solving ability
  • Strong interpersonal skills – and a commitment to exceptional service
