Overview:
The chief photojournalist works closely with the director of news operations providing support, and feedback including critiquing all aspects of electronic news gathering to a staff of experienced photojournalists. Must be extremely proficient shooting, editing and lighting. Adept at keeping abreast of new technologies that enhance our product and workflow. Must be a team leader working closely with other departments on station events. Must be an excellent photojournalist!

Responsibilities:
Qualifications:
•Degree in broadcast journalism/production preferred.
•Minimum 10 years’ experience working as a ENG photographer in a large market.
•Exceptional interpersonal and communication skills with the ability to listen, provide praise and constructive criticism.
•In depth knowledge of existing and evolving newsgathering technologies.
•Good leadership skills.
•Must be self-motivated, collaborative and possess a high level of creativity to tell stories with sound and images.
•Take ownership of situations and lead issues to resolution.
•Experience in logistics and special event planning and execution.
Requirements
•Must have a valid driver’s license.
•Ability to lift 50 lbs. + of newsgathering equipment.
•Must be available to work weekends, long hours or varying shifts when necessary to meet production and broadcast deadlines, 24/7.
•Support fleet team overseeing WNBC vehicles located at various garages.
•Perform functions of photojournalist covering shifts when need.
•In depth understanding of newsgathering technologies: Bonded Cellular, KU and KA Satellite, Editing technologies (Adobe Premiere), File transfer, Microwave, RF, Panasonic P2 Cameras and associated accessories, Encoding, Communications technologies, HD video, internet technologies and Multi-camera Anchor remotes.
•Partner with WNJU and share best practices.
•*This position is covered under a collective bargaining agreement between the Company and the National Association of Broadcast Employees and Technicians Union (NABET). Successful candidate will be required to join the NABET Union if not already a member and remain a member in good standing of that union.
