The Lowe Group, a financial communications agency, has an opportunity for a mid-level professional with a consultant mentality and a desire to dig-in to client work across media, social media and marketing functions. This role could be ideal for a financial journalist or a financial media relations or other communications professional seeking a small company environment and a track toward eventual client leadership. 
This is an office-based position with periodic visits to client locations and potential work-related travel. Ideally the candidate will be located in the Milwaukee, Wisconsin area; however, we may consider a remote employee based in Chicago, New York, Washington, D.C. or potentially elsewhere. We seek a full-time person but will also consider candidates who would prefer slightly less than full time.

We serve financial services firms including asset managers, wealth managers and professional services and technology providers in media relations, content development, social media, marketing and more. The primary responsibilities of this position are (1) to work closely with client relationship managers to achieve outstanding client outcomes in media, social media and marketing/website areas and (2) to coordinate task management and planning across assigned clients. Additionally, this position will contribute to content development.
The role will include each of the following areas:

  • Conduct or assist with pitches to media
  • Draft news releases
  • Distribute news releases 
  • Identify media contacts relevant to each client’s audience; complete research on journalists and build media relationships
  • Develop and update media contact database and create press lists
  • Identify best platform/approach for each news release • Report on results of news releases and other media outreach

Social media

  • Assist with the creation of social media plans for clients
  • Conduct social media audits
  • Plan and execute social media campaigns on behalf of clients
  • Draft social media content on behalf of clients and for The Lowe Group
  • Monitor and assess social media outcomes and provide recommendations for social media strategy
  • Schedule and track social media activity using social media platforms and tools such as Hootsuite


  • Create and revise client marketing materials
  • Conduct Google Analytics and other website reviews
  • Update client websites and support client website development in WordPress
  • Advise clients on marketing strategy and tactics, including digital 

Client service coordination and planning

  • Assist client relationship leaders with project planning, agenda creation, reporting and other areas
  • Work with client relationship leaders and other team members to assure timely and successful completion of client tasks; complete follow-up items and client tasks in a timely manner
  • Monitor news and identify important opportunities and challenges relevant to clients
  • Perform competitive research and audits
  • Maintain effective communication and working relationships with all team members


  • Research and write financial services-specific content such as articles and blog posts, backgrounders, feature stories, bios, website copy, policy statements and other corporate communications
  • Complete first drafts of various forms of communications to include investment or personal finance related commentary or thought leadership


  • A minimum three years of experience in the financial services industry. Experience focused in wealth management, asset management and alternative investments is strongly preferred
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate complex financial information in writing through college coursework or professional business writing
  • Bachelor’s degree to include significant coursework in business, economics, communications or journalism is preferred. In lieu of coursework in business or economics, a working knowledge and interest in the financial services industry is acceptable. A master’s degree is helpful
  • Website experience, ideally including familiarity with WordPress
  • Work-related experience with social media platforms such as LinkedIn and Twitter, including drafting professional posts and tracking analytics is desired
  • Proficiency using Microsoft applications including Word and Excel
  • The ability to work independently with attention to detail
  • The ability to learn and use online productivity and collaboration tools
  • The ability to work quickly and efficiently in a fast-paced environment 
  • Excellent interpersonal skills
