Role Purpose
The Director, Site Reliability Engineering will be part of the Performance & Reliability team supporting ongoing operations of the streaming service. The Director will oversee a team of site reliability engineers who are responsible for maintaining the end-to-end cloud infrastructure, network, and application stack for the services that power NBC’s Direct-to-Consumer platforms.

Responsibilities
  • Set the strategy for tooling, frameworks, and processes for building, deploying, and monitoring all environments
  • Create and refine SRE training and documentation for all development teams
  • Work with development teams to ensure that all non-production and production environments are delivered and configured according to team standards for monitoring, security, resiliency, and reliability
  • Coordinate with Platform Operations team to ensure that all changes are approved and deployed prior to release and ensure that all changes have passed necessary NFT and QA gates
  • Provide 24x7x365 support for production environments
  • Be the subject matter expert for multi-cloud configurations, containerization technologies, with a passion for automation and deep knowledge of DevOps
  • Oversee persistence center of excellence and ensure that all development teams are building systems with proper persistence technologies and techniques


  • Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a relevant field
    • Minimum (3) three years management experience
    • Minimum (7) seven years’ experience managing large-scale digital software systems
    • Understanding of DevOps and SRE best practices
    • Expertise in cloud development and deployment technologies, including containerization and multi-cloud configurations
    • Knowledge of common persistence frameworks

    • Experience in digital media or direct-to-consumer video business highly preferred
    • Expertise in designing highly-available fault-tolerant software
    • Passionate about leading a team of engineers committed to ensuring 99.999% availability
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, comfortable communicating with technical and non-technical colleagues and executives
    • Ability to understand large complex software systems and their interdependencies
