The Head of Computer Vision, will establish a team that requires a combination of Computer Vision, machine learning, and data science resources to develop solutions, applications, and frameworks that will advance CAI capabilities. This leader will help develop one of the most advanced computer vision systems in the world. They will work to develop our state-of-the-art real-time perception systems related to vehicles in dynamic environments. The systems and algorithms that you and your team will develop will be deployed in challenging real-world scenarios adding value to our customers.
The Head of Computer Vision is a leader who can effectively guide and build teams to be successful by fostering an environment of trust, collaboration, and high-performance. This person must knock down technical, cultural, or organizational impediments, mentor and lead technical computer vision, machine learning, and data science staff, and collaborate with other product, architecture, and engineering leaders to develop a healthy organization. The Sr. Director should have experience in python, OpenCV, and familiarity with Deep Learning Frameworks (TensorFlow, Pytorch, Keras, etc) and have a passion for delivering results and learning how new computer vision and machine learning technologies and processes can deliver better solutions to our customers.
This position is a part of a strategic organization tasked with building products and components aligned to the growth plans of Cox Automotive.  He or she will work closely with leadership and key stakeholders across the company to execute the strategic priorities of the company.
Responsibilities:Manages the Computer Vision Engineering team from Atlanta, GA.Overall responsibility for computer vision engineering and architecture alignment as well as data science application to solutions delivered within this team.Ensures that team organization, individual development, and communication are in line with the broader Cox Automotive vision. Builds teams that perform at a high level. Fosters inter-team collaboration and productivity.Implements, measures and reports on the execution strategy defined for the team. Execution includes delivery of planned work, with deliverables that meet company standards with respect to quality, scalability, and reliability. Effectively communicates with key stakeholders when either scope or timeline of projects require modification. Oversees engineering processes and ability to generate new frameworks and applications that enable intelligent systems.  Works closely with senior leadership on continual process improvement and organizational change to support Agile values. Responsible for appropriately allocating engineering team to the highest value investments per business backlog and release planning. Formulate and communicate mitigation strategies for long running projects, or projects where risk is high. Tracks and measures project work and programs to assess overall success. Responsible for ensuring the intelligent program teams’ overall morale and productivity continue to improve. Manages career progression for team members to include hiring, performance reviews, salary decisions, mentoring, and coaching. Partners with leadership on higher level initiatives that may benefit several business and/or product capabilities. Allocates resources strategically and tactically by balancing the broader lens with the various locally supported business unit needs. Oversees budgeting for local team including hardware to support projects, staffing, facilities and tools for software development. Responsible for local engineering brand awareness strategy and implementation as well as responsible for continuing to evolve culture of engineering team to drive Cox Automotive Engineering operating principles. Represents Cox Automotive in the local and regional community; building and fostering relationships used to promote community outreach, name & brand recognition, and talent acquisition.All other duties as assigned. Qualifications:5 - 7 years of leadership in the area of computer vision and machine learning and has delivered new and innovative vision-based technologies in new product categories.5+ years of experience as a computer vision engineer delivering innovative frameworks, vision-based algorithms and intelligent software solutions as a team member.Understanding of optics and camera systems, vision-based recognition systems, photogrammetry, and video processing.Proven experience leading complex computer vision products, experience designing experimental systems.Experience in algorithm development including taking algorithms and deploying innovate software into production in unique product categories. Strong mathematics skills.Experience in python, openCV and familiarity with Deep Learning frameworks (TensorFlow, Pytorch, Keras)Excellent programming skills including debugging, performance analysis, and test design.Background and experience in Automotive sector a plusStrong software engineering and software architecture skills including knowledge of LinuxTeam player with excellent work habits and interpersonal skillsExcellent written and verbal communication skillsMust live or be willing to relocate to Atlanta, GATravel varies, may be up to approximately 20%
