TODAY Digital, the multiplatform arm of America’s favorite morning show, is looking for a Commerce Editor to manage our ecommerce content. The Commerce Editor will be responsible for the Shop TODAY editorial calendar, daily optimization and creation of commerce articles, and management of a growing team of commerce associates. This role will also be tasked with identifying growth opportunities in the ecommerce space, discerning how those opportunities fit within the existing brand, and executing on each opportunity while tracking performance.
The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of news standards and practices, editorial voice and business strategy. This person should be organized, detail oriented and skilled at coordinating between many different groups of people at any given time. He/she should be able to use data and analytics to inform editorial decisions and should be knowledgeable of what performs with our target audience.
Job Description:Manage the TODAY commerce editorial team of writers and associate editorsCoordinate with commerce associates, TODAY editorial team & SEO team to plan the Shop TODAY editorial calendarEdit shopping content for the Shop TODAY siteOptimize posts based on affiliate partnerships and commerce opportunitiesTrack SEO trends and keyword opportunities and iterate based on findingsIdentify new opportunities within the ecommerce spaceParticipate in regular editorial meetingsBuild commerce posts in the CMSCollaborate with channel editors to identify and optimize any commerce-focused lifestyle content on TODAYAct as an ambassador to relevant teams for the role of ecommerce in the evolving media landscape.
• 3-5 years editorial experience, commerce experience a plus
• Market work experience for a news brand a plus
• Firm grasp of spelling, grammar and punctuation rules (AP Style)
• Attention to detail and ability to make quick decisions
• Ability to manage many different tasks at once
• Strong understanding of data, analytics and excel
• Excellent communication skills and ability to work across multiple teams
• Knowledge of affiliate marketing platforms including Skimlinks, Amazon, Linkshare and Rakuten a plus
