Job Purpose

SmartBrief is looking for an Associate Technical Project Manager who will be responsible for managing software development projects related to SmartBrief’s content and advertising systems. In this role, you will work directly with  the Development, QA, and Tech Operations teams as well as the Product Owners and other Business Stakeholders across the company to both develop new products for external clients and maintain and improve existing internal software used to create and support SmartBrief’s suite of products.  

Key responsibilities

  • Act as a liaison between the Tech Department  and Product Owners and other Business Stakeholders to identify and prioritize project requirements

  • Translate the requirements into technical deliverables for the Development team

  • Set and manage Product Owners and other Business Stakeholders expectations, schedules and budgets 

  • Identify potential risks and determine mitigation plans 

  • Create and maintain project documentation

  • Lead Development team stand ups 

  • Meticulously track tasks and deliverables, manage and coordinate developer schedules

  • Motivate  the project team and keep them on task and on schedule

  • Determine roadblocks and work to remove them 

  • Manage communication with Product Owners and other Business Stakeholders

  • Provide demos and trainings for end users

  • Develop, maintain, and groom Product Backlog for projects

  • Facilitate team retrospectives and work to continuously improve the development process

What do I need to succeed?

  • Two to three years of experience managing software development projects

  • Knowledge of project management principles and Agile development methodologies

  • Technical knowledge to support development teams in resolving issues

  • Detailed and process oriented mindset

  • A proven track record of bringing opposing viewpoints to a consensus

  • Comfortable working in a fast-paced environment with the ability to handle multiple projects at the same time

  • Bachelor of Arts or Science

​​​​​Nice to have:

  • Familiarity with JIRA and other Atlassian products

  • Scrum Master certification or experience acting as Scrum Master

  • Experience working with digital organizations

  • Bachelor's degree in computer science/information management/ engineering/ maths
