Vintage/Anchor is looking for a broad-based paperback editor whose primary interest is literary/commercial fiction. Reporting to the Editorial Director, this editor will be responsible for handling 10-12 frontlist reprints per season, as well as backlist reissue initiatives, working with authors and agents throughout the publication process, from developing copy and cover design to establishing metadata to thinking creatively about marketing and publicity opportunities.
The position also involves a considerable amount of reading and reporting on submissions. Must be an avid reader and have strong verbal/presentation skills, as well as excellent writing, copywriting, editing and contract negotiation abilities; proficiency in meeting tight deadlines; established contacts in the industry; a sense of trends in the marketplace; three to five years of editorial experience, and a passion for good writing.
