Communications and Consumer Information Associate Administrator

The Associate Administrator for Communications and Consumer Information leads the development and execution of NHTSA’s strategic communications, and manages the Media Relations, Consumer Information, Communications Services, and Digital Strategies Offices. Strategizes, plans and directs market research, social media outreach, content development, event planning, and press events and inquiries to promote the Agency's safety programs and regulatory priorities. Manages a strategic communications program, develops goals, objectives, budgets and activities, conducts market research, and develops media materials for Agency traffic safety campaigns and initiatives. 1. Demonstrated ability to successfully manage strategic communications programs, which include developing, recommending and implementing goals, objectives, budgets, resources and activities in the areas of Consumer Information, Communications Services, Digital Media and/or Media Relations. Ensures timely responses to urgent and critical press/media inquiries with political savvy and with accurate information.
2. Demonstrated ability to manage market research and collaborate with subject matter experts to develop and implement public awareness campaigns designed to influence and alter consumer behavior; create strategies that enable a broader organizational reach; deepen community engagement; and measure impact by leveraging a variety of analytic tools.
