Assistant Director, Scheduling and Traffic

Team:      Scheduling Implementation

Status:     Full-time, Contractor (Currently funded through June 2020 with the possibility of an extension based on available funding.)

Note: The individual selected for this role will not be employed directly by PBS. The incumbent will be hired by a staffing firm as a contractor under the instruction of PBS.


In this role, you will provide traffic and scheduling support to various PBS services both internally and externally.


Essential duties will include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for scheduling programs and breaks on multiple linear channels
  • Prepares FVOD scheduling and content metadata for partner delivery
  • Customer Service support to both stations and vendors on scheduling related items
  • Prepares and delivers linear schedule reports to stations
  • Delivers accurate and timely schedules to the PBS NOC and MOC
  • Supports the PBS station Traffic Advisory Committee (TAC)
  • Collaborates with other departments to troubleshoot operational issues
  • Serves as subject matter expert in company initiatives and projects

Requirements for success:

  • 3 years’ experience in a traffic or scheduling role
  • Bachelor’s degree in a related field, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Experience with Broadview or equivalent scheduling software
  • Familiarity with PBS operations and procedures is desirable
  • Ability to work in a collaborative environment
  • Excellent problem-solving and decision-making skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Excellent organizational skills
  • Excellent writing skills
  • General knowledge of public broadcasting community
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Strong aptitude for software applications
