Job Purpose

From the team who publishes Broadcasting & Cable and Multichannel News comes a new B2B brand focused on the next generation of television on all its platforms - Next TV. Next TV will be the leading expert B2B guide for professionals working in the dynamic Direct-to-Consumer (Streaming or Over-The-Top) industry providing timely news and analysis, in-depth feature articles, industry profiles, photography, video and visualized data delivered on multiple digital platforms.

Managing Editor /Assistant Managing Editor Duties:

The Managing Editor of Next TV is responsible for all content-related duties, including but not limited to creating and maintaining the editorial calendar, assigning articles both freelance and in-house, maintaining the freelance budget, receiving and editing all content deliverables, writing new content, and understanding of analytics of traffic metrics and SEO best practices. 

Daily/Weekly Duties:

Content Creation & Management:

  • Act as both a player (reporter/writer and editor) and a coach (manager) to lead the launch and editorial direction of Next TV including managing a robust editorial calendar of daily and weekly content, assigning and scheduling staff and freelance writers and editors alike.

  • Write new articles as needed under your own byline.

  • Manage a freelance budget to maximum effect.

  • Copyedit all content and own the final word - every word - we publish at Next TV

  • Upload content - text articles, photos, video, data into our proprietary CMS


  • Interpret Google Analytics and other SEO reports for content traffic and handoffs and leverage traffic reports to determine top organic articles and video for maintenance and refreshing purposes.


  • Be a resource to our SEO team and the active lead hands-on editorial owner of NEXT TV SEO strategy and tactics.

  • Collaborate closely and share editorial content with other brands (e.g. Broadcasting & Cable, Multichannel News and other Future brands).

What do I need to succeed?

  • Experience in content strategy, scheduling and budgeting

  • Strong reporting, writing and editing skills are a must

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills are required to maintain relationships with freelancers and internal stakeholders

  • Deep editorial experience in covering the TV industry

  • Experience with Google Analytics and SEO best practices

  • Brand leadership and management experience are highly desired
