The Media Buyer assists in the strategic planning and implementation of monthly marketing plans in collaboration with the Marketing, Art and Category Management teams for the execution of marketing programs.  This role partners with outside agencies and/or vendors to recommend specific media buys in support of those efforts and is responsible for the active review and management of the campaigns, researching new opportunities and helping to identify ways to improve the performance of our existing programs.

Job Description - Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Assist with the development and implementation of marketing strategies across a broad range of

           marketing channels

  • Actively manage each media program and make recommendations on media titles as well as investment levels on a weekly, monthly and annual basis
  • Monitor performance of all marketing vehicles on an ongoing basis and, where necessary, make

           recommendations on opportunities to optimize spend

  • Research new media vehicles and make recommendations for testing
  • Actively manage all aspects of media buying through the planning, scheduling, negotiation, buying,

           implementation and invoicing processes

  • Proactively negotiate media prices capturing the lowest rates possible
  • Ensure that all insertion orders are issued and completed in a timely and accurate fashion
  • Work in conjunction with leadership to develop annual and monthly budgets
  • Work collaboratively with individuals across the organization to optimize each program 
  • Where appropriate, actively communicate with publishers, vendors and media partners regarding new store openings and new product launches
  • Build effective, collaborative partnerships with internal team members as well as media agency/partners

Requirements - Education and Experience

  • Bachelor’s Degree required, preferably in Marketing or Business
  • Minimum 2 years of experience media planning, buying, and analysis (with an emphasis on print and radio)
  • Experience with recommending media approaches and specific tactics
  • Solid understanding of performance metrics to analyze data to make informed media recommendations
  • Intermediate computer skills including MS Office programs (Excel, Word, PPT)
  • Excellent time management and organization skills with ability to multitask while retaining quality and accuracy
  • Initiative and ability to work independently but welcomes collaboration
  • Strong work ethic with an emphasis on accuracy, the ability to detect and eliminate errors
  • Proven ability to respond to changes and thrive in a fast-paced environment
  • Strong interpersonal skills and ability to work well as part of a cross-functional and collaborative team
