Staff Associate, Web Content Manager
The Division of Marketing and Communications is responsible for telling the Bridgewater State University story to the institution’s major audiences, including current and prospective students, faculty and staff, alumni and donors, media, regional business, non-profit and governmental institutions and leaders, and the general public. The division manages all facets of the university’s communications and major communications channels, including branding, marketing, advertising, publications, the university website, media relations, major social media channels and video production. Bridgewater is a thriving university, which has undergone extraordinary growth in enrollments and programs in the past two decades. The Division of Marketing and Communications is growing and seeking staff who are creative and driven to help tell the BSU success story.
This position is responsible for developing and implementing the university's web content strategy and producing SEO -friendly web content. This position would work closely with and report to the Director of Web Communications, as well as in close collaboration with the Director of Marketing, in planning and implementing major web initiatives and projects and supporting the university's marketing strategy. They also would work with colleagues in Marketing and Communications and across the university to identify audience needs, develop targeted content, ensure consistency of design, relevancy and accuracy for all web content. This position oversees the publishing lifecycle and content auditing process. This position requires both strategic thinking and hands-on execution, particularly in developing web content. The person in this position would utilize their strong knowledge of the web as a core marketing tool in working with the other members of the division of Marketing and Communications in supporting marketing strategies and driving enrollment.
This is an exempt, APA unit position and is subject to the terms of that union agreement.
Position Type: APA Professional
-In collaboration with the Director of Web Communications and Director of Marketing, further develop the university’s web content strategy and implement strategic goals outlined in the strategy. Recommend improvements to policies and procedures.
-Plan and implement content initiatives to enhance BSU’s reputation and ensure our website reflects the vibrancy and breadth of the Bridgewater experience.
-Work with the Director of Marketing and the marketing team in developing, planning and executing the web components of marketing and communications campaigns.
-Collaborate with colleagues in Marketing and Communications and across the university to prioritize audiences, develop targeted content, integrate messaging across channels and identify new needed functionality in support of strategic goals.
-Identify and track goals for pages and oversee the performance of strategic web pages via Google Analytics and Google Tag Manager.
-Work collaboratively with web developers and designers to create new web functionality and ensure uniformity of design.
-Oversee and manage the accuracy and quality of all website content via Siteimprove. Oversee a yearly audit of all web content.
-Directly supervise the web editor. Perform annual performance evaluation and other supervisory duties.
-Oversee the web editor in updating and developing search engine optimized and WCAG 2.0 accessible content for the website.
-Oversee publishing and content lifecycle management.
-Oversee and manage a major project related to the development of academic program pages on the website.
-Stay current with web user research, perform user testing, focus groups and A/B testing via Optimal Workshop or similar methodology.
-Actively supports the University’s initiatives of Diversity & Social Justice.
-Additional responsibilities as directed by the supervisor consistent with rank and position.
-3 years professional experience in web content development
-Demonstrated hands-on ability to write and edit SEO and WCAG 2.0 accessible web content
-Demonstrated project management skills and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
-Knowledge of Drupal or similar, HTML , CSS , Photoshop and web publishing tools
-Knowledge of SEO , keyword search and Google Analytics
-Higher education experience preferred
-Higher education enrollment management or marketing experience preferred
-Knowledge of Optimal Workshop or similar user testing tools
