The vision of the American Trucking Associations, Inc. (ATA), is to be the recognized leader in transportation advocacy representing the safest, most responsible and financially successful motor carriers. Our mission is to effectively advocate and communicate efforts designed to improve safety and profitability for our members.

Transport Topics, the award-winning news leader for the trucking industry, has an immediate need for a Features Editor to help craft and produce its comprehensive slate of insightful, informative feature content. That slate includes weekly feature stories that explore the latest trends and developments in trucking, four of the most closely-watched annual lists in the industry, and a quarterly supplement that delves into the equipment and suppliers that drive the industry.

The successful candidate is a strong editor who understands how to craft a compelling narrative, regardless of the subject matter. From a strong lead that captures the reader through to the last line, someone who understands how to carry readers on a journey while informing them along the way is the person we need.

We also need someone who’s excited about learning. The trucking industry is undergoing a period of significant change, with advancements in automated driving, safety systems, last-mile delivery, clean-air initiatives, aerodynamics and more reshaping how America’s trucking fleets bring goods to consumers. Transport Topics is at the forefront of covering these developments, and we’re looking for someone who’s excited about delving into these subjects, and more.

We’re looking for someone who likes to occasionally hit the road. Coverage of industry events will help the successful candidate learn more about trucking and keep his/her writing chops sharp. Your stories will reach readers on our freshly-redesigned, mobile-friendly website, through our suite of daily and weekly e-newsletters, and through our flagship weekly print edition. You may also find your byline in one of the four annual lists mentioned above, which take a deep dive into the four key sectors of the trucking industry.

Our editorial team also makes regular appearances on Transport Topics Radio, our weekly news program recorded in our in-house studio and heard weekends on SiriusXM satellite radio. Staffers also occasionally turn up on our podcast series, RoadSigns.

We are looking for the following qualifications:
• BA/BS in Journalism, English, Communications, or Social Sciences;
• At least 5 years of experience in news;
• Experience covering freight transportation news is preferred.

There’s a lot going on at Transport Topics, and we’re anxious to welcome someone new into to the fold to help carry us forward.

If this sounds like you, please reach out right away. We’d love to hear from you.
