Tom’s Guide upgrades users’ lives by helping them find the best consumer tech products for their needs and allowing them to get more out of their favourite products long after they’ve made a purchase. We provide buying guides, reviews and tips stories for the most popular products in every major category, including smartphones, TVs, headphones, streaming devices and gaming hardware. Our editors and writers are true guides of their categories, with years of expertise that back up our authoritative reviews and buying guides. 

Job Purpose

Tom’s Guide is looking for a staff writer to cover all things streaming. This writer will create and maintain key buying guides and reviews around popular services such as Sling TV, PlayStation Vue and YouTube TV, as well as devices such as Apple TV and Roku. This writer will also create “how to watch” guides for major television shows and sports events, cover news around hot topics such as Disney Plus, and create features around the best shows and movies on popular platforms. The streaming writer will work closely with Tom’s Guide editors to identify the best opportunities based on SEO trends and other data, while pitching original features and videos to make our streaming content shine.

Key responsibilities

  • Create and maintain buying guide and review content around popular streaming services and devices, including Sling TV, PlayStation TV, Roku and Apple TV

  • Create “how to watch” guides for major television shows and special events

  • Write daily news articles around popular topics such as Disney Plus and Apple TV Plus

  • Create and maintain features around popular services (i.e., “Best Shows on Netflix)

  • Some travel required to major consumer tech events, including CES in Las Vegas

  • Occasionally appearing on video for features and reviews 

What do I need to succeed?

  • A Bachelor’s degree in journalism, communications or a related field

  • At least 1 year of experience at an online media outlet

  • Experience attending events and appearing on video preferred
