About the Team

Laptop Mag is the premiere publication focused on mobile computing, from laptops and 2-in-1s to Chromebooks and tablets. We have a dynamic team of editors and writers focused on helping consumers what to buy and how to get the most out of their systems and software. We review the biggest new products from all of the top companies (including Apple, Dell, Lenovo and HP), execute key face-offs and consistently update our top picks across several categories.

Laptop Mag also creates special reports throughout the year, including Best and Worst Brands and Tech Support Showdown, which have become hallmarks for the brand. We meet daily to set priorities and work closely together throughout the day to deliver the best content in a timely fashion.

Job Purpose

Reporting to the Editor in Chief, the Operations Editor is responsible for the timely production and publication of content, maintaining high standards for quality and consistency while simultaneously maximizing editorial resources. 

Coordinating closely with the rest of the editorial team, the Operations Editor is available for daily quick-turn multimedia content (including GIFs, HTML embeds, photo comparisons, composite images, graphics), while also taking on large-scale projects and coordinating execution of editorial plans. 

Key role responsibilities

The Operations Editor has an interdisciplinary role within the editorial team that handles key aspects of the publishing process: 

  • Content layout, CMS templates and web production

  • Navigating critical production deadlines and publishing dates

  • Integration of ecommerce and SEO best practices

  • Image rights management and editing visual assets

  • Creating GIFs, data visualizations and other embedded content

  • Coordination with photo, social, video and lab testing teams

  • Execution of special projects

What do I need to succeed?

  • Must have experience or expertise in at least one of the following:

— Digital production

— Content management systems (Wordpress, etc.)

— Photo editing (Photoshop, Pixelmator)

— Information design (Illustrator)

— Editorial / online journalism

— Web design (HTML, CSS)

  • Bachelor’s degree or 1+ years of direct editorial experience and demonstrated expertise

  • Demonstrated ability to meet tight deadlines in a fast-paced environment while collaborating well with others
