Variety: Social Media Internship


• Assist with the curation of all major social media platforms, including Twitter, Instagram and Facebook

• Write and edit daily posts

• Assist with the planning and execution of special news coverage, packages and live events

• Help manage live events coverage across digital channels

• Alert digital newsroom of breaking news and trending topics

• Act as a social evangelist in the newsroom, sharing weekly reports and insights with the staff

Job Requirements:

• Bachelor's Degree, preferably in Journalism, English or Marketing

• Ability to work 40 hours/week

• Strong news judgment and excellent writing and copy-editing skills

• Ability to balance editorial and marketing initiatives

• Detailed knowledge of the main social platforms and an eye on evolving platforms, emerging trends and technologies

• Knowledge of social media analytics metrics and tools

• Ability to create and fulfill reports

• Ability to develop the right voice for each social media platform

• Willingness to work some nights and weekends to cover awards shows and live events
