Role Purpose
The Monitoring Engineer will be part of the Reliability & Performance team and will be responsible for supporting the monitoring and alerting platform used by the platform operations and engineering teams to maintain a real-time view of the performance of NBC’s Direct-to-Consumer platforms.

  • Ensuring that monitoring solutions are properly monitoring the availability and performance of all end-to-end systems responsible for delivery NBC’s Direct-to-Consumer platforms
  • Provide technical support to engineering and software delivery teams to integrate all systems into the monitoring platform
  • Develop monitoring and reporting tools in collaboration with the technical and business stakeholders according to specifications
  • Stay abreast of monitoring technologies and industry trends, analyzing fitness and feasibility for integrating into the monitoring platform

  • Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a relevant field
    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience as a software developer
    • Strong PHP developer with knowledge of SQL
    • Working knowledge of messaging platforms such as RabbitMQ or Apache Kafka
    • Technically proficient and able to diagnose and debug complex issues quickly
    • Ability to follow established processes and workflows to ensure that all work is completed per group standards

    • Experience with streaming in a direct-to-consumer video business highly preferred
    • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, comfortable communicating with technical and non-technical colleagues and executives
    • Ability to understand large complex software systems and their interdependencies
