Role Purpose
The Application Vulnerability Engineer will be part of the Reliability & Performance team and will work closely with NBCU’s Cyber Security team to continually test the security of the software and systems used to delivery NBC’s Direct-to-Consumer platforms.

ResponsibilitiesWork with the NBCU Cyber Security team to ensure that all applications deployed for D2C are regularly scanned for vulnerabilities in all public-facing application environmentsCoordinate with engineering and development teams to integrate vulnerability testing into the CI/CD pipeline to prevent issues from being deployed to productionAdvocate for secure coding principles and grow awareness of OWASP and SANS listsAssist engineering teams in assessing vulnerabilities and planning for remediationRemain aware of industry trends and monitor for new potential vulnerabilitiesEscalate to senior leadership when new critical vulnerabilities are discovered

Basic Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology or a relevant field
  • Minimum three (3) years of experience in DevSecOps for a large consumer-facing cloud application
  • Understanding of multiple cloud computing platforms
  • Knowledge of Web Application Firewall technologies such as Akamai Kona
  • Experience with secure coding methodologies
  • Knowledge of application scanning tools such as Veracode
  • Programming experience in a scripting language (Python, Bash, etc…)
  • Familiarity with CI/CD and containerization technologies such as Kubernetes and Docker
  • Understanding of the OWASP Top 10 and SANS Top 25 vulnerabilities

    • Experience with a digital media direct-to-consumer business highly preferred
    • Security certification a plus
