ABOUT THE ROLE
PBS NewsHour is hiring a Creative Director, Graphics to lead our graphics department. In this position, you will not only manage the motion graphics style for our program (broadcast and digital), but inspire a team of talented artists. You’ll work closely with the digital team to develop graphics for daily news coverage, special event coverage, and long form video productions. You’ll report to our VP, Operations.
YOUR FIRST 90 DAYS
You’ll get to know your team and the wider organization, and how each group functions independently as well as part of the whole. You’ll establish key relationships with your peers, and learn the dynamics of your new team. You’ll bring new ideas and fresh perspectives to PBS NewsHour graphics.
WHAT SUCCESS LOOKS LIKE
You have built rapport and trust with your team and it shows in their work. Staff know the graphics your team produces will be error free and exactly what they need to take their story to the next level. Your demonstrated ability to seamlessly jump from project to project will enable you to flourish and developed trust with executive leadership.
WHAT YOU’LL BRING
- Prior experience supervising a team and demonstrated ability as a design leader.
- A wide range of skills, including expert knowledge of modern mapping software, 2D/3D graphics production, broadcast graphic management systems, and best practices for graphic workflow.
- Minimum 7-10 years of broadcast experience, college degree in motion graphics, or related field, or equivalent combination of training and experience.
