ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Inventory Analytics

  • Monitor Inventory Turn rate, by imprint, and report updates
  • Evaluate inventory levels against targets and recommend changes
  • Maintain balance between Origination titles and licensed product
  • Perform new title post-mortems to identify opportunities and inventory risk
  • Perform monthly reviews to identify obsolete & slow-moving inventory for sale or elimination
  • Perform maintenance on complex reporting suite of Excel and Access tools
  • Report on historical comp title performance
  • Report on account specific performance (forecast vs shipment)

Inventory Control

Obsolescence

  • Identify and recommend action on excess inventory
  • Coordinate excess inventory activities with Finance Department to maintain budget
  • Conduct multiple overstock sales per year
  • Proactively eliminate excess inventory to avoid storage charge assessments
  • Work with distribution clients; recommend and implement actions to avoid excess inventory
  • Work with UK and Australia distributors to identify inventory issues and recommend changes

Backlist Management

 

  • Utilize Excel tools to review backlist titles for reprint
  • Strike a balance between frequent small reprints with margin requirements
  • Support Sales initiatives and promotional opportunities

Qualifications

5 years of experience required

Must be process and detail oriented

Excellent oral and written communication skills

High Proficiency in Microsoft Excel – critical

Book Publishing a plus
