Temporary Social Media Editor
The New Republic is looking for a social media editor to join our team on an on-call basis during holidays and vacations.
This is a contract position, based in Washington, D.C. The temporary editor will oversee all of TNR’s social platforms and will be responsible for writing and scheduling posts, with the assistance of an intern.
The ideal candidate has a genuine interest in the news, follows it closely, and is a disciplined writer who understands the hazards in distributing bite-sized news at a high velocity. Applicants should have at least two years of relevant experience.
To apply, please submit your résumé and a cover letter about why you’re right for this position at The New Republic. The cover letter must be tailored to TNR, showing a clear understanding of our sensibility and history. You may also include writing samples in your application and examples of your social media work. You will be required to take an editing test.
The New Republic is committed to diversity and encourages members of underrepresented communities to apply, including women, LGBTQ people, people of color, people with criminal records, veterans and people with disabilities.
