Position Overview
The Senior Manager, Home and Seasonal business North America will focus on growing the Home Furnishings and Seasonal categories. In order to do so, he / she will develop sustainable strategies for their categories and manage licensee relationships, build stakeholder support, harness internal resource to execute on these.

The ideal candidate will have expertise in the Home Furnishings business, and knowledge of the licensing and retail landscape. He / she will have established relationships with manufacturers and / or retailers in this space, a successful track record developing and executing category strategies and tactics, an entrepreneurial spirit, and the breadth of skills required to help execute key initiatives & overall growth of the Home and Seasonal business.

  • Develop & execute category strategies in sync with larger divisional strategies.
  • Communicates strategy to team members and other internal partners/stakeholders
  • Finance and Business Planning
  • Give input in the annual budget and Long-Range Planning
  • Evaluate and analyze licensee business plans and quarterly sales forecasts
  • Manage contract negotiations by analyzing and vetting licensee business plans.
  • Category Management and Licensee Management
  • Maintain knowledge of current industry trends, competitors, business opportunities, threats and dynamics for key licensees
  • Analyzes category and reviews business in order to identify short- and long-term revenue-generating opportunities
  • Tap into the “white space” through seeking new partnerships or developing new products and services, and grow the business
  • Actively develop and manage a portfolio of licensees to grow the category. Critically evaluate the licensee base to ensure we have the right amount and best quality partners.
  • Maintain productive relationships and partnerships for the benefit of the organization
  • Working with the different UBD departments, ensure timely execution of essential licensing function across categories: contract negotiations & contract maintenance, business reviews, product development process, product approvals
  • Partnering with the Product Development team, ensure that licensees develop appropriate product lines with focus on innovation, freshness and adequate price points.
  • Retail Development
  • Liaise with Retail Development team to support retail activation plans with the licensees
  • Maintain knowledge of seasonalities and buying cycles of retailers.
  • Management
  • Responsible for growth and development of a Manager
  • Perform general supervisory functions such as, coaching, performance management and development.

  • Basic Qualifications
    • Bachelor's degree, MBA a plus
    • 5+ years of homewares and / or Licensing experience as a licensor and/or retail buying experience in category.

    • Proven ability of strong presentation / pitching and negotiating skills, and ability to close
    • Management experience a plus
    • Good understanding of brand and property positioning, retail business development function, retail distribution and the retail environment
    • Comprehensive knowledge of licensees' production and creative capabilities/limitations
    • Good network of relationships with licensees, distributors and retailers

    • Proven track record delivering growth and solid analytical / financial skills.
    • Strategic thinker able to communicate a compelling vision for the business
    • Collaborative professional with ability to work independently with cross-divisional teams.
    • Willing and able to travel, sometimes with short notice
