Human Resources Manager partnering with assigned publishing client group to implement and oversee HR policies, procedures, and practices within the US. Areas of primary focus include: employee relations, performance management, coordination and support of variable compensation program(s) and HR legal compliance and Change Management. Provide strategic input to the design and development of HR initiatives that support both global and local business objectives.









Job Duties





  • Coach managers on effective employee relations resolution and performance management techniques to mitigate company risk while supporting business objectives

  • Manage the ongoing implementation, communication and administration of Springer’s variable compensation plans

  • Effective implementation of annual HR processes - i.e., annual salary review, target-setting and appraisal

  • Assist in identification of staff developmental/training needs

  • Partner with the Recruitment team to balance budgetary restrictions with vacancy costs

  • Conduct exit interviews, analyze data and makes recommendations for corrective action and continuous improvement

  • Respond to requests for employee data; prepare Management reports as required

  • Special projects

  • Perform other related duties as required






Job Requirements





  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent with a minimum of five (5) years of HR experience

  • Strong generalist background required

  • Experience within a global organization required; publishing or STM publishing experience preferred

  • Strategic and innovative thinker; ability to gain the confidence of managers and partner with them to achieve business objectives

  • Broad HR generalist background with a clear understanding of how HR can contribute to the bottom line performance of the organization

  • Demonstrated ability to drive organizational change

  • Strong oral and written communication skills

  • Solid Project Management skills

  • Prior experience with variable compensation/bonus programs

  • Ability to manage and prioritize conflicting demands and work with high autonomy as well as meet tight deadlines

  • Adheres to strict confidentiality requirements

  • Able to analyze data and develop recommendations

  • Knowledge of MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint required
