Salary Description: Salary + full benefits package, including paid time off and 401K with an employer match seeks an Audience Engagement Editor to oversee audience growth across various platforms including Facebook, Apple News, Instagram, and Twitter on a Thursday-Monday schedule. This role would be responsible for growing People’s audience, as well as finding new platforms that will engage with People’s content.

The ideal candidate has experience managing content flow from a major news organization or publishing outlet, is comfortable with interacting with readers, and has experience using text, video, and pictures to engage audiences. The candidate must have excellent time management skills, a passion for seeing stories reach high reader volumes and an ability to analyze data. This Audience Engagement Editor will sit in the newsroom and work closely with edit, video, PR, and other stakeholders to help distribute content and help serve our different audiences.

Essential Job Functions

Run social accounts including Facebook, Instagram and Twitter; Communicate with editorial team and newsroom to help prioritize daily content; Provide guidance on trending items across social, SEO, and other sources


Brainstorm, workshop, and execute different social content ideas and activations — video series, campaigns, memes, etc.


Collaborate with editorial teams to execute social activations around awards shows, tentpole events, and breaking news; Help with data pulls and analyze key metrics; Deploy news alerts and newsletters;


Attend events for live social coverage, Instagram Stories, and more; Organize social takeovers and partnerships


Minimum Qualifications and Job Requirements | All must be met to be considered.


Bachelor’s degree in Journalism or related field or equivalent training and/or experience.


2-3 years of related experience working in a fast-paced, creative environment or media brand 

Specific Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Availability to work 9am-5pm EST Thursday-Monday (including Saturday & Sunday)

Savvy with social media — an avid user and observer of industry trends

Strong news judgment 

Familiarity with the PEOPLE brand, particularly on social

Understanding of SEO basic principles

Experience with social analytics and reporting

Impeccable writing skills and attention to detail

Availability to work during special events, broadcasts, awards shows
