Dining Editor & Food Critic

Northern Virginia Magazine is looking for a dining editor and restaurant critic to lead coverage for this dynamic suburban food scene stretching from Arlington to Middleburg.
The two-in-one job includes writing restaurant reviews and overseeing the food section in print and online. The dining editor will assign, edit and write the food section filled with a variety of stories, interviews, listicles, trend pieces, features, reviews and beautiful photography.
Besides the monthly section, the dining editor will also oversee several food and drink cover packages (past covers include Cheap Eats, Comfort Food, Winery Daytrips, Best New Restaurants, Barbecue, Brunch and the annual 50 Best Restaurants list).
Northern Virginia Magazine is the premiere lifestyle glossy in Northern Virginia with a monthly readership of over 150,000 food-curious consumers. Food stories are perennially the most clicked-on articles across the publication, and are a top priority within the magazine. The dining editor should know how to shape content to reach digital and print audiences and be able to juggle projects on multiple platforms. The candidate should be able to write quickly and thoughtfully and manage time efficiently.
What we’re looking for
• At least five years of journalism experience, with two or more writing about food and dining
• At least three years of editing experience
• Expertise and interest in all forms of social media
• Working knowledge of food trends and world cuisines, and can come with contacts in the local food scene
Compensation is comprised of competitive salary, auto allowance, health and dental benefits.
