SCAD (Savannah College of Art & Design), the university for creative careers, is looking for an experienced project manager with a passion for books and a publishing background to oversee the production of several innovative titles annually on subjects as varied as architecture to animation, fragrance to fashion, painting to performing arts, et al. We also create elegant artist monographs from the SCAD Museum of Art and SCAD FASH: Museum of Fashion + Film. You will collaborate with the Executive Director of Creative Services and both internal and external stakeholders to ensure aesthetic excellence, compelling content, a streamlined process and successful outcomes. ● BA degree ● 5+ years of project management experience, preferably at a publisher; book packager, media company or similar environment will be considered. ● Keen understanding of 360º book creation process from concept to creation to distribution and the myriad steps along the way. ● Strong verbal and written communication skills. ● A strategic and creative thinker. ● A positive and proactive approach; ability to be nimble and manage multiple projects simultaneously in a creative, collaborative and fast-paced environment. ● Detail-oriented with strong organizational skills to manage schedules, approvals, deadlines, and contributors.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities:

● Under the guidance of the Executive Director of Creative Services, oversee production of a few books annually (with a range of dynamic content and formats) that increase recognition for the university and our high-profile museum exhibitions. ● Collaborate with internal and external stakeholders, including authors, illustrators, publishers, designers, and our production team to determine priorities, manage budgets and meet project milestones. ● Establish and maintain relationships with prestige publishing partners. We currently work with Rizzoli and DAP but are always looking for new opportunities. ● Help develop a freelance “talent bank” of art directors and potential contributors. ● Work with SCAD’s legal department to develop contracts with contributors and publishers. ● Oversee our Creative Coordinator who does research, manages inventory, vendor payments, royalties, project timelines, and other project details. ● Meet weekly with the Executive Director of Creative Services to provide status updates on projects in progress and brainstorm future ideas for development.
