PLEASE NOTE: This is a project / limited term position with an estimated duration of up to 12 months unless otherwise amended or terminated as deliverables within this project are completed.

Role Purpose

The MLB writer will be responsible for writing original content regarding the key MLB news and events of the day as well as targeted analysis and some opinion articles. Note, this is a fully remote position.

  • Write original and insightful posts on key MLB news and events of the day.
  • Cover breaking MLB news stories with quick, concise analysis
  • Work closely with additional MLB writers and contributors on and Rotoworld to ensure complete day-part coverage
  • Promote NBC Sports and NBC Sports Regional video on demand within stories and create supporting text content for relevant video as needed.
  • Maintain an active social media presence, promoting the relevant content you create and the content of the other writers on the team – but also adhering to NBC Universal’s social media standards.
  • Monitor the conversation on the site by the community of fans commenting on news

  • Basic Qualifications

    • Minimum three (3) years’ experience in editorial environments
    • Minimum two (2) years’ Internet experience related to MLB

    Additional Qualifications
    • Understanding of social tools available on the web and how they can be applied to content
    • Particular understanding and use of Twitter
    • Extensive analytics expertise and experience
    • Reliable with the ability to work from home independently without direct supervision in a demanding, fast paced, deadline driven environment

    • Team player who is comfortable working with editors
