Senior Program Associate, Digital Immersion

Team:            Station Strategy and Development

Status:          Full-time/Exempt/Project (Funded by a grant for up to 3-years)


The Station Strategy and Development team helps PBS member stations continually develop and adapt to the changing ecosystems in public media through a variety of collaborations and educational programs. Specifically, the team strives to improve PBS member station success by providing station staff with consistent access to professional development resources that ensure competitive skillset growth.


The Senior Program Associate, Digital Immersion is tasked with the planning and coordination of the activities of this cornerstone educational program for PBS member stations, and includes managing communications, event production, curriculum activities, and comprehensive reporting. The role will also be required to assist in maintaining budget and tracking expenditures.


The Digital Immersion Program is a year-long professional development program for PBS member stations designed to enhance personal knowledge in, and improve station execution of, critical strategies and tactics that lead to multi-platform success at the local level.


In addition to being organized and detailed-oriented, the ideal candidate for this role possesses a background in managing projects, is versed in digital technologies, has excellent writing skills, and has a strong customer service orientation. Background in media and/or education a plus.

Essential duties will include, but not limited to:

  • Support planning and coordination of the Digital Immersion Project activities and curriculum
  • Maintain budget and track expenditures/transactions
  • Assist in managing partner communications.
  • Help build positive relations within the project among station participants
  • Schedule and organize meetings/events and maintain agenda
  • Coordinate and assist in the scheduling and the preparing of materials for training webinars and collaboration sessions
  • Provide regular Project updates for PBS Digital staff
  • Keep accurate record of Project activities and create reports for grant purposes
  • Assist in planning regional workshops and manage logistics and travel to Project events as necessary

Requirements for success:

  • Bachelor’s degree in communications, new media, or business administration preferred. An equivalent combination of education and work experience may be considered.
  • 2 years of experience in media, education, or non-profit space.
  • Proven experience as program coordinator or relevant position.
  • Knowledge of budgeting, bookkeeping and reporting.
  • Excellent time-management and organizational skills.
  • Detail-oriented and efficient.
  • Knowledge of PBS and public television preferred.
  • Ability to interact with all levels of multi-faceted, fast paced corporation.
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills, including a command of grammar.
  • Excellent phone manner / customer service skills.
  • Superior organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Resourceful, self-directed, and flexible team player.
  • Strong skills in typing/word processing, graphic design, spreadsheets, electronic communications systems, using the Internet, Outlook, and Microsoft Office.
