Associate/Senior Editors – Nature Reviews Methods Primers
Location: London / Berlin / NY
Nature Research, the publisher of Nature, is looking to recruit two Associate or Senior Editors for Nature Reviews Methods Primers, a new journal that will launch in 2021.
Nature Reviews Methods Primers will join our highly influential family of Nature Reviews journals, renowned for their editorial quality and supported by best-in-class artwork. Following the successful launch of Nature Reviews Disease Primers (https://www.nature.com/nrdp/) in 2015, the Primers concept is being extended with the launch of Nature Reviews Methods Primers. Our aim in launching Nature Reviews Methods Primers is to publish commissioned overview articles—called Primers—each covering a method or technology in the sciences or engineering, accompanied by a graphical summary called PrimeView. Primers provide an authoritative introduction to a method for the benefit of students and scientists, providing readers with everything they need to know to evaluate, select and apply a method, and complement the more-focused, specialized articles that are published by the other Nature Reviews titles.
As part of this exciting new publishing venture, we are now recruiting two Associate or Senior Editors for Nature Reviews Methods Primers. Broad scientific knowledge and training, excellent literary skills, the ability to absorb new areas of research, and a keen interest in the practice and communication of science are all required. Candidates with a physical sciences and/or methods development background are particularly encouraged to apply. Applicants should be dynamic, outgoing and have excellent interpersonal skills. A key aspect of the job is liaising with the scientific community through laboratory visits and international conferences — willingness to travel is essential.
Working closely with the Chief Editor, the editors will commission articles, edit manuscripts, organise peer review, write for the journal, and develop the journal’s website. The ideal candidates will have a PhD in the physical or life sciences. Postdoctoral and previous editorial experience would be an advantage, but is not essential.
The positions will be based in the London/Berlin/New York offices of Springer Nature, and the terms and conditions are competitive, reflecting the importance and responsibilities of the role.
Applicants should send:
- a CV and a cover letter explaining their interest in the post and their salary expectations.
- description and discussion of 10 methods across the physical and life sciences suitable for Primers, plus potential appropriate authors and a brief rationale for the choice of topic and authors!
Closing Date: 3rd January 2020
We offer a comprehensive benefits package that includes:
- Medical, Dental and Vision
- Life and AD&D
- Flexible Spending Accounts
- Transit Accounts
- Tuition Assistance
- Summer Hours
