The NY Post is looking for a veteran journalist for its Sunday staff. The newspaper and web edition, which averages more than 20 million pageviews per weekend, is a smorgasbord of local, national and international news, award-winning investigations, politics, celebrity gossip and smart features. From Tuesday through Friday, you'll generate and execute your own story ideas as a reporter. On Saturday you'll switch gears to help edit and rewrite breaking stories as we move them to the web and paper at a full sprint. We usually slow down long enough to eat at our desks -- or try to come up with those P1 headlines. This position is perfect for an editor who still loves reporting, or a seasoned reporter ready to up his or her game. As vacation absences occur, this person will be tasked with managing our  very talented group of reporters during the week. We offer a highly competitive salary, excellent benefits, room to write and gallons of free coffee.

  • At least 5 years of previous newsroom experience
  • Ability to consistently generate new stories
  • Comfortable writing both breaking news and long-form stories in lively tabloid prose for both web and print
  • Comfortable aggressively editing and rewriting stories for content, logic, style, accuracy, libel and fairness
  • Ability to produce copy that entertains as well as informs
  • Previous leadership experience preferred
  • Willingness to collaborate with a close-knit, non-territorial team of NYC's best journalists!
