NBC10 Boston and NECN are looking for a talented social media producer. The social media producer plays a major role in the day-to-day execution of NBC10 Boston and NECN’s online news strategy, working with other local web staff to ensure the offering is consistently up-to-the-minute, differentiated, impactful and relevant to local users. The job includes posting news stories to social media platforms like Facebook, Twitter and Instagram, helping to create unique content for social platforms, promoting our on-air content and covering live events on social media.
Execute on the social media strategy of the network.Create, schedule and publish high-quality, consistent and engaging original social media contentCreate graphics for social media platforms.Ability to maintain focus and accuracy during breaking news and high pressure news situations; keeping as many platforms as active as possible when the stakes are high and accuracy with speed matter most.Utilize social media properties to engage users and establish an interactive social media environment in order to extend the reach and influence of our stations.Work with marketing, communications and sales departments to ensure consistent branding and messaging and to achieve promotional and sales objectives.Work with digital content team in researching, brainstorming, writing, and sharing news stories.Monitor and track social media activity of network personnel and local and national media and influencers.Use analytics tools to increase social media effectiveness and track overall performance.Contribute to overall digital efforts, including content development and coverage.Cover and create social content around live events and breaking news.Use social media to monitor and report news, find sources and leads for buzz-worthy storiesUpdate, monitor and respond as the voice of NBC10 Boston and NECN on social platforms.

• A Bachelor’s degree, ideally with some coursework in online media
• 3+ years of experience in the field of social media and digital journalism
• Demonstrated knowledge of AP Style writing and guidelines
• Excellent news judgment
• Proven success creating and executing social media campaigns
• Willingness to take risks and experiment with new technology
• Thorough skills and strategic understanding of social platforms, including Twitter, Facebook, Instagram and YouTube
• Familiarity with analytics tools
• Strong writing and editorial skills
• Knowledge of the basic concepts of producing digital content , on air broadcasting; writing and producing
• Experience editing video for TV and web
• Experience creating graphics and marketing materials for social media
• Ability to work in a fast paced, high pressure environment
• High attention to detail
• A willingness to learn and grow in an environment of quality on-air and web journalism
• Strong work ethic, positive attitude and leadership qualities with the ability to handle multiple tasks and set priorities a must
• Ability to work non-traditional hours, weekends & holidays
• Must be willing to work in Needham, MA
• Must be willing to submit to a background investigation
• Demonstrated knowledge of AP Style writing and guidelines
• Must be 18 years or greater
• Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States

• Exceptional communication skills
• Experience with WordPress, Dalet, SocialFlow, Slack, CrowdTangle, Chartbea, Domo, Selenioflex systems a plus
• Excellent news instincts with the ability to react decisively to breaking news; combined with the ability to write succinctly and with flair
• Proficient with Adobe Photoshop Elements and Adobe Premiere
• Experience shooting and editing video content
• Bilingual (English and Spanish)
