Job Summary/Purpose: NBC News is seeking a Director of Development to assist with all Longform documentary projects.


Assist Head of Development on all aspects of development

Writing and creating pitch decks

Creating new ideas for documentaries and docuseries

Effectively interact and collaborate with the development team as well as the production team

  • Demonstrate strong understanding of the market place for factual series, specials and documentaries

  • • Minimum of 5 years of experience in development and/or production of factual series, specials and documentaries
    • Must have a Bachelor’s degree in Journalism, Communications, English, History, or a related field of study
    • Interested candidates must submit a resume/CV through to be considered
    • Must be willing to work in New York, NY
    • Must have unrestricted work authorization to work in the United States
    • Willingness to travel and work overtime, and on weekends with short notice

    • Strong idea generator
    • Experience with PowerPoint/Keynote/Photoshop a plus
    • Relationships with network buyers a plus
    • Strong verbal and written communication skills
    • Strong time management and organizational skills
    • Self-motivated and proactive
    • Must have strong presentation and writing skills
    • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively interact with senior management
