Position Summary

DreamWorks Animation Television is seeking a Visual Development Artist with a diverse set of skills to join our on "TrollsTopia" a 2D - action/comedy/musical show. The candidate should demonstrate a strong design foundation and a strong paint foundation to execute on the creative vision of the series.

This exciting new opportunity is based in Glendale, California and is covered by the Animation Guild.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities
  • Meet with Creative Leadership to follow through on instructions and ensure color needs of show are fulfilled
  • Complete all color work within assigned deadlines
  • Resolve color problems with Creative Leadership
  • Design props and FX under the direction of the Creative Leadership of the series
  • Create designs for props - including turns as required
  • Generate rough concepts to explore new designs within the style of the show
  • When requested, create and present innovative ideas to enhance visual concepts and designs
  • Superior eye and ability to translate a thorough understanding of color, composition, detail, texture, and lighting into designs
  • Fulfill other color projects, including but not limited to color lead sheets, color script and color callouts
  • Willingness to take feedback and rework material while maintaining a fresh perspective
  • Communicate progress of work to appropriate production staff and ensure all deadlines are met
  • Ensure all artwork is properly backed up, organized and stored appropriately
  • Ensure all shipping materials are prepared and ready on time

  • Qualifications/Requirements
    ● Thorough design foundation including strong knowledge of painting, lighting, color theory, knowledge of perspective, and composition
    ● Advanced knowledge of Photoshop
    ● Must demonstrate proficiency in style of show
    ● Is a team player, who genuinely enjoys working with others
    ● Knowledge of or willingness to learn applicable color software and hardware
    ● Strong time-management skills
    ● Work well under pressure
    ● Ability to multitask a plus

    Desired Characteristics
    ● At least 1 year of experience in TV Production
    ● At least 1 year of Color Stylist experience and/or training on a similar show; or equivalent combination of education and experience
    ● Working knowledge of Illustrator is a plus
    ● Bachelor’s degree preferred
