JCCA’s Communication & Marketing department is responsible for internal and external agency communications, marketing Fund Development and Advocacy campaigns, and the organization’s online presence. Reporting to JCCA’s Director of Communications and Marketing, the Marketing Specialist works closely with JCCA’s Creative Manager, Online Marketing Coordinator and the Fund Development team. JCCA’s Marketing Specialist will work/collaborate with staff, clients, and families to showcase JCCA’s life-changing and transformative programs and increase the organization’s visibility in the New York media and philanthropic communities.

 

Responsibilities:

  • Develop stories that highlight news, events, and client and staff successes for website, social media, and email communications
  • Pitch JCCA events and stories to print, broadcast, and online media outlets
  • Write copy for fundraising and event collateral, program brochures, flyers, internal and external emails, website, and social media
  • Facilitate internal communications via social media, agency intranet, email, and printed materials to support organizational initiatives, advocacy efforts, and other strategic goals
  • Help coordinate production of video content, online and print campaigns, and advertising
  • Learn JCCA’s ‘voice’ in order to draft correspondence, remarks, and opinion pieces
  • Proofread all materials drafted by the Fund Development and Communications department
  • Catalog and manage bank of client stories, press clips, event photos
  • Monitor current events and trends in child welfare, youth justice, and other topics relevant to JCCA’s mission and goals
  • Perform other duties as assigned

  • Able to build rapport with clients, staff, and media contacts

Required Education and Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree
  • Fluency in Microsoft Office and major social media platforms
  • At least 2-3 years’ experience working in a communications, advertising, or journalism environment
  • Available to travel to JCCA programs within NYC and Westchester up to 25% of the time
  • Flexible to cover occasional evening and/or weekend events

The candidate should be comfortable with the following physical requirements:

  • Carrying computer and other equipment regularly to and from work locations
  • Sitting at a desk for consecutive hours
  • Walking and navigating city neighborhoods and our large residential campus
  • Able to lift 12 pounds
