Salary: Pay per article

Level: Experienced (Non-Manager)

About Your Role

Lifewire, one of the largest and fastest growing tech sites on the web, is seeking freelance remote automotive writers experienced in electric vehicles for a short-term project. Our writers and journalists are genuine, helpful, passionate, and optimistic in their approach; know how to get to the point; and share our ‘people-first’ approach.

BIPOC writers are strongly encouraged to apply; all applicants must submit at least three bylined electric vehicle-related clips to be considered.

Quality matters to us: You must be able to write about electric vehicles in a friendly and helpful manner, produce multiple articles in a tight timeframe, be open to a variety of EV assignments, and meet deadlines. Attitude is critical, too: We love what we do and we seek out writers who are team players and have a positive, can-do point of view.

In addition, you should have:

  • 3+ years demonstrable experience writing straightforward, practical, and instructional-style advice on electric vehicles
  • Ability to work from a content brief and turn it into a practical, useful article
  • Dedication to hitting deadlines without fail
  • Experience working with and making submissions from Google Docs
  • US Based Writers preferred

Nice-to-haves include:

  • Active social media following

In case it isn't clear yet, we're not your normal tech site. Our goal is always to help and educate; the audience we speak to is intelligent, but not as deeply invested in the industry as you are. Readers want you to help them understand electric vehicles so they can make smart decisions about using them.

We never talk down to our readers, and we're allergic to snark. If Lifewire sounds like something right up your alley, please apply!
