Fox News is seeking a Freelance Ticker Writer to join our New York Bureau. As Ticker Writer, you will be responsible for identifying news stories for our ticker scroll on Fox News Channel. You are a detail-oriented news junkie with an excellent grasp of current events. Your excellent writing, grammar, and spelling skills allow you to write top-notch headlines and stories in a short period of time.
A SNAPSHOT OF YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
- Identify current breaking news stories and publish daily on the scrolling news ticker
- Breakdown a story and highlight key information to write catchy headlines for assigned shift
- Share, review, edit and update all ticker copies
WHAT YOU WILL NEED
- 1 year of experience or internship experience working in a live broadcast environment
- Basic knowledge of newsroom functions
- Solid knowledge of current events
- Strong writing skills with demonstrated self-editing skills
- Ability to work all shifts and handle the pressure of a 24-hour cable news environment
- A positive attitude, strong work ethic, and excellent writing, grammar, and spelling skills
- Strong organizational skills and a creative self-starter
NICE TO HAVE, BUT NOT A DEAL BREAKER
- A Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience
